New doors

We've been considering what to do with the carriage house apartment and are thinking of actually using it for its original purpose - storing carriages.  There is a lot of work before we can get to that point but one of the first steps now that the stonework is completed will be to get new doors for the carriage way.   The originals were removed in the 1950's and replaced with French doors and windows.

We've found a local blacksmith who will make the hinges and in the spring I hope to have time to actually make the doors.  They will be relatively simple since the intent is to imitate what we expect the originals to have been.

Stonework II

Unadulterated south wall
North side showing window
Another view of the house from the 1960's.  The lower windows and doors on the right (East) side were remove in 2010.  In the mid 1970's two more windows were cut in on the North and South sides respectively.  In 2012 we filled these two remaining windows in, this time using old stone left from the replacement of the West chimney.
