The Purchase

It's funny how things have a way of working out.  For some reason in December of 2005 I asked a real estate agent who is a friend of ours to show us a house that there was no chance of us getting.  I had been in part of it because there was an antique shop running out of the carriage house but had not been in the house itself.  My earliest memory of this house is that it was perpetually for sale.  But when we went to see it the the owner had actually just passed away.  Mostly we were just curious, but of course, we loved it and were disappointed that it wouldn't work out for us.  Someone else bought the property and we thought it was over.

Fast forward four years - February of 2009.  House is once again for sale, actually it had been for some time but I had been avoiding it because of our last experience.  Seems the couple who bought it split up and moved away or something like that.  House has been rented out, while carriage house has two apartments in it.  A drive-by reveals things aren't looking very good.  Decide to forget about it again.

Easter 2009 - for some reason we decided to actually go see the house.  Our agent takes us through (same one as before) and of course we again fall in love with the house.  This time we're in a better position and decide to go for it.  Our offer is accepted and we (thankfully) quickly sell our house.  The packing and waiting begins...

End of June 2009 - my wife and are were standing looking at the west wall of the house.  I turned to her and said something like "well, it's our stone headache now."  It's funny how many times we've said that since!
